Flocabulary
The YouTube video below shows the basics of Flocabulary, an educational video website. This website utilizes rap/hip-hop to engage students in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. Additionally, other content includes Social Emotional Skills and Current Events, the latter is updated every Friday.
Teachers can utilize Flocabulary by projecting the video on their whiteboard for classroom instruction, and complete activities about the video as a group. Individual assignments can be done by paper or assigned to student devices electronically. Multiple Choice assessments are available to see if students understood the content. Furthermore, students can create their own songs with the Lyric Lab, which encourages higher level thinking skills since students have to manipulate the content for their songs.
A drawback to Flocabulary that it is not free, so please inquire your school or district if you want a subscription.
